Hello everyone and welcome to the latest update for 2021.
This year was a particularly lucky year for the project, so much so that the first beta was released, which was positively received by all of you and for this i thank you infinitely.
Furthermore, in recent months a lot of progress has been made both in terms of maps and in terms of implementations, so i'm particularly satisfied with how development is progressing.
Hoping that next year will be equally productive, so 2022 will finally be able to close this "circle" that began ten years ago.
Now we can move on to today's news!

1. New Intro
The first news i would like to show you is the new intro:
The animated sequence created shows various scenes in pixel art of the first event of the story, the one that will then start all the subsequent events that will characterize the adventure.
I want to clarify that the clouds visible in the first two scenes were drawn by Fintaman.

2. Indoor maps

In this last period, most of the time dedicated to the project was devoted to the creation of the indoor maps.
Focusing on the first screen, we can observe a small kitchen of a restaurant in Ethereal City.
Here you can taste the chef's workhorse: the sweet and tasty malasade.
The creation of this map was strongly inspired by a pixelart work by Doctorcello, that is https://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/117670.htm.
Moving on, inside the second screen we find the Neomoor city casino.
As in the main titles of the series, by playing the various minigames available on the map you can acquire coins and which can then be exchanged for prizes.
The tiles of the tables and slot machines were made by Vazquinho25, while the other internal tiles were designed from scratch by myself.

3. New puzzles
The latest in this update are puzzles.
In fact, in order to make certain game sequences more exciting, the players will be offered some puzzles to solve.
The first that i would like to show you is the one visible in the video, in which we will have to rearrange the wires in the electrical panel in such a way as to restore the original circuit and have the possibility to open the door.

Hoping you like these news, i wish you happy holidays!
See you next year, precisely in March 2022, with the next update!
Wow, simply amazing. You are a huge inspiration for my project. I love in game puzzles and that one looks great! Also, really nice intro :)

Thank you very much Xiros, i'm honored that my project can be a source of inspiration for other people <3
I'm happy that you enjoyed the latest update, because i used all my skill in the field of pixel art!
Regarding the intro, in order to make it more dynamic, i inserted another scene:

Reply to old comments:
Actualmente está en italiano, ojalá alguien pida permiso para traducirlo al español...
At the moment, only english translation one is planned, in order to reach as many people as possible.
The good @kakarotto asked me if he could translate it and i gave him the approval!
Hopefully, there will also be a Spanish version!
With this post i would like to thank immensely all the users who voted GL during the PWah contest, who wrote really beautiful messages of appreciation in the description of the votes, and in general all the people who after all this time continue to support me and suggest me how to improve.

Since i haven't updated the topic for some time, i take this opportunity to show a little screenshots (the big update will arrive on March 1st, as already mentioned a few posts ago):
In this screen, which officially marks the beginning of the work on the scripts of the game, you can see some animations i worked on recently!
In fact, in some events of the game some pixel art will appear with the aim of emphasizing the actions of the characters!

Good morning and welcome to the first update of 2022!
First, i decided to open a discord server related to Giratina's Legend: https://discord.gg/vVJxSFU8TW
This allow you to know several news in advance before they are posted here on the forum!
This update will be particularly full-bodied, so i wouldn't waste any more time and immediately move on to today's news!

1. Shinzo region
In the last update i had specified how the latest progress of the project concerned the mapping.
Here, i can finally tell you that the external maps of the region, therefore routes and cities, have finally been completed!
Below i leave you the map of the entire region, so that you can have a global view of what you will play (attention, large image):
You can see that the final part of the game will mainly focus on the northwest part of the region, with big cities, snowy paths and warm deserts.

2. Drought Town
Speaking of deserts, as i haven't officially done it yet, i'd like to introduce you to Drought Town:

This small village is located in the desert area of the region.
Thanks to the discovery of nearby oil fields, in recent years the town has undergone a significant landscape and economic expansion.
This town can be reached thanks to the region's rail system, starting from Neomoor City station.
To accompany this brief description, i also leave you a brief gameplay of the map:

3. Three Regis
By now, i guess you all know that the main story of the game is centered around Giratina.
But no one knows that the post game will focus, for reasons that you will only discover by playing, on the trio of legendary titans.
Since they play an important role from the point of view of the "lore" of the game, i thought of dedicating special structures to them with their appearance:

The temple dedicated to registeel is still WIP and will probably be shown later!

4. Mini-game Crossover
In parallel with the development of the necessary implementations for the game, i've developed a small "easter egg" that will be available in the next beta:
The game takes up the classic mechanics of the first super mario, but adapted to the pokèmon world!

5. Script
The last thing I'd like to show you today is about scripts.
In fact, following the completion of numerous maps and implementations, i decided to dedicate to scripting.
What i would like to share with you today is a short sequence of one of the latest main story events (for those who haven't played the current beta, the video contains spoilers):
This sequence is quite significant, because it represents the methodology with which i'll also develop the next events of the game.
In particular, mainly for important game sequences, there will be some pixel art that will emphasize the actions of the characters.

Hoping you enjoyed this update, see you in a few weeks with a very special update, precisely on May 21 2022.

Simply amazing!

Your mapping skills and the graphics You choose are simply brilliant.

The scripting is perfect, those style of events.. in fact, You inspired Me for My hack with those pixel arts and animations.

I always loved the first Mario Bros, and the mini Game looks really fun to play.

I'm sure the final version Will be an amazing Game, and Also it Will inspire lots and lots of hackers and ganes.

Thank you very much Xiros for all these appreciations!
I would be happy to see other users in the future get inspired by giratina's legend, it means that the work i've done has proceeded in the right direction!

Grazie mille Lurku, gentilissimo!
Purtroppo devo deluderti: non verrà annunciato il rilascio del gioco, per quello bisognerà aspettare ancora un po'...
Tuttavia, spero comunque che il prossimo mini-update possa piacerti!

I have to be honest, i didn't think i could get so much recognition from a community.
Every time i always think that we cannot do more than this, that the affection shown up to that moment cannot be overcome, but as always i was wrong.
Thank you very much everyone for placing all this trust in GL, i hope that in the future it will meet all the expectations you have placed in this project:

Anyway, i would like to take this opportunity to tell you what i've done in recent weeks.
Although i've started to insert some script related to minor events, the great work that has been done is in the graphics field.
As i pointed out in the last update, i've spent some of my time making pixel art that emphasized certain events.
Here, i would like to show you one of these:

This scene will be shown at the end of the main story, just before the post-game begins.
That said, see you soon with a new update!

Exactly ten years ago a little Andrea started to work on Giratina's Legend project.
It had to be a passing passion, but after a decade i still find myself writing some messagges in the pokmon hacking forums.
I never expected that an hobby could overwhelm me in this way, yet still today the change of maps, the creation of events and writings of asm rroutine still gives me satisfaction.
To celebrate this "milestone" i would have to publish a trailer with which show the progress made in the recent months.
However, due to lack of time and material to propose, i'll limit myself to a simple screen:
What you see is a completely 2D section where you see Neomoore City reflected on the sea from a cliff.
The inspiration for this map came right after the implementation of the Mario minigame shown in the last update.
I thought it would be intersting to show a map from a different prospective than the "top-down" one of the pokémon games.
Having said this, i hope the next update can be richer in terms of content.

Good morning everyone and welcome to a new update!
It has been a few months since I posted here on the forum.
During this long period I have been swamped with university commitments, but despite this I managed to dedicate some of my free time to the project.
In particular, I have started working on the main story scripts, starting with the ending (already fully scripted) and going backwards.

1. Some screens
The first thing I would like to show you today are a bunch of screens taken from some of the events inherent to GL's main storyline:

Starting from the left, in the first screen you can see one of the last events I made.
Due to some problems, Neomoor City has been left without electricity.
With the help of a lever, the player will have to restore the power generator and bring light back to the city!
Turning to the second screen, you can see one of the first events you will play in the upcoming beta.
As you can easily guess, the northern part of Ethereal City is under attack by rampaging Gyarados.
It will be our job to limit the damage and attempt to quell this pokémon.
Finally, the last screen features the final battle against Giratina and which will take place in the distorted world.
To emphasize the use of the gray sphere by the hooded man, i made the small pixel art visible in the screen!

2. Animated Ending
As I had mentioned in some past updates, important events related to the main storyline will be accompanied by some pixel art.
Today I would like to show you the sequence that will be loaded during the last dialogue of the game:

3. The project is on hiatus
I would not have wanted to give you this news, but unfortunately the project enters a hiatus for a few months.
In fact, due to a six-month internship abroad, I will not be able to work on the project until April 2023.
However, I hope that what I have shown you today will still be able to make up for this small interruption.
That said, see you in May 2023 with the next update!

It's really amazing the love and effort that you put on to the game.

The pixel art animations are quite impressive. That gave personality to the scenes. The buttom, the gyarados... the test of the pidgey moving at the same time text advances alows you to get a touch of the magical rpg on the 90's and early years from 2000..

The mechanics of minigames is also quite unexpected. The pokemario game would be awesome to be able to play the fourth first levels from the first world, and you may be able to discover an extra secret after from a future spot :)
They reminds me GBA Spyro times (press A or B simultaneously)...

Also the graphic style still look like has been worked on for a long time. Really good. Well done for that animation of Gyarados scene.

It was a good decision about focusing on mainline story to give you a chance of play it soon... it's good to know that it will be post game scenes and gaming.

Hope that you get to complete your game. Do not worry about the time you expend, simply enjoy about your hobby. Take your time bro.

It would be nice that you fully replace all the original OST from pokemon ruby, on to other songs. Still have it I little burnt, that's another reason about why I keep using Fire Red as Based Room. And the capacity of the musics around 12 Direct Tracks+Drums.

It's really a good game. I will play it whenever it got fully ended.

Nice job bro! Keep on reaching your goals!
Have a nice Weekend! ^^
